The Science of GaN: How we packed 140W into a pocket-sized powerhouse.

The Science of GaN: How we packed 140W into a pocket-sized powerhouse.

Most people are working with a handicap they don’t even know they have.

They spend $3,000 on a laptop. They spend $1,200 on a phone. Then they use a "brick" that can only charge one of them at a time.

If you want to charge your MacBook Pro 16 inch at full speed you need 140W. But the standard Apple brick is huge. It has one port. It’s a literal dead weight in your bag.

We decided to kill the brick.

We took our 140W Travel Adapter. We took our 100W GaN Charger. We combined them into a single pocket-sized powerhouse.

This is the Volta Giga-140W. It is the new standard for the modern professional.

Real-World Performance. The 140W Power Test.

In the tech world we call this the "Power Test."

Most chargers "lie." They claim high wattage but they can't maintain it. They get hot and they throttle.

Watch the Giga GaN in this video. We plug in a MacBook Pro. Then an iPhone.

Watch the Intelligent Current Distribution work in real time.

The Giga GaN acts as a traffic cop for your electrons. It ensures every device gets exactly what it needs without overheating. This is what GaN 3 Pro looks like in action.

The Engineering Challenge. Speed vs Portability.

Until now you had to choose.

You could have speed. Or you could have portability. You couldn't have both.

If you wanted 140W to fast charge a pro-level laptop you were stuck with a massive single port block. It was a thermal nightmare. It took up half your desk.

We set out to solve the "Thermal Wall."

We used GaN 3 Pro technology. Gallium Nitride is a crystal. It conducts electricity more efficiently than silicon. That means less energy is lost as heat.

Because it stays cooler we can pack the components tighter. We shrunk the footprint by 40 percent. Then we added two more ports.

We didn't just make a smaller charger. We made a smarter one.

The Purple Aesthetic Synergy.

We didn't just design for power. We designed for the modern setup.

Most tech is ugly. It’s boring white plastic.

The Giga GaN features an integrated Smart LED Display. It glows in a signature Volta Purple.

This was intentional. We created this to perfectly complement the all-new TPE Purple Volta Max 240W Cable.

When you plug that cable into this charger you aren't just "charging." You are building a coordinated power ecosystem. It looks like a high-end workspace. It performs like a NASA lab.

It’s not just a charger. It’s a statement.

If you are a professional your time is your most valuable asset.

Waiting for a slow charge is a tax on your productivity.

The new PD 3.1 standard allows for 140W. That is enough to power a workstation. It is enough to edit 4K video while you charge.

The Giga GaN gives you that power in your pocket.

It means you can walk into a meeting with 10 percent battery and walk out 20 minutes later with 60 percent.

That is the difference between a dead laptop in a presentation and a closed deal.

Most chargers are a black box. You have no idea what is happening inside.

The Giga GaN gives you a dashboard.

You can see the real-time wattage. You can see the temperature data. You can see the cumulative usage time.

If your cable is bad the screen will tell you. If your device is full the screen will tell you.

It eliminates the guesswork. It gives you total control over your gear.

Global Mobility. One Plug to Rule the World.

We built this for the traveler.

The prongs fold flat. It won't scratch your other gear.

It comes with convertible pins for the UK. The EU. Australia.

You can throw this in your bag and go anywhere in the world. You don't need a bag of adapters. You don't need a power strip.

One outlet. Three devices. Anywhere on earth.

The Logic of the Offer.

Let's look at the math.

To get 140W from Apple you pay $99. You get one port.

To get a travel adapter you pay $30.

To get a 100W GaN block you pay $60.

That is $189 of plastic in your bag.

Or you can get the Giga GaN.

It is smaller. It is faster. It has a smart screen. It has 3 ports.

It is the logical choice for anyone who values their gear and their time.

When you deal with 140W safety is everything.

We used UL 94 V-0 flame resistant material. That is the gold standard for fire safety.

We added 5 layers of protection.

  • Over-voltage protection.
  • Over-current protection.
  • Short-circuit protection.
  • Over-temp protection.
  • Intelligent norms temperature monitoring.

We protect your devices so you don't have to worry about them.

Conclusion.

The "Brick" is dead.

The era of carrying multiple chargers is over.

The Giga-140W is the ultimate evolution of our power technology. It is the combination of everything we have learned building the best cables and chargers on the planet.

It is fast. It is smart. It is purple.

You will get your pre-order link on 18th of January and priority shipment on the 29th of January. Upgrade your workspace. Reclaim your time.

What is the price of the charger?
Is 140Watts the total for all 3 ports or is it per port?

I suggest checking out Project Farms video on USB-C chargers. An excellent way to see how your charger stacks up.

I agree with Ed. Very unprofessional of Volta to request us to “reserve” a spot without mentioning cost. That earns you a GREAT BIG NO THANK YOU !!!!

Apple have 140w from 1 port, you have 140w total from 3 ports. With max power 65w.

G’day.
Given the current delays for the last Kickstarter program, i wonder how accurate is this ETA of end of January 2026?
Also, what’s also missing from the above presentation, is HOW MUCH will it cost?
I already own the GAN 140W travel charger from you. So not sure if this product is really of benefit to me.
Depending on your responses, will determine if i purchase
Kind Regards
Ed
