So when a customer opened their package and saw that the outer ring wasn't gold anymore, the reaction was understandable.

Here's the important part and this is where things often get misunderstood.

✅ The charging pins inside the tips are still 18K gold-plated

❌ The outer plate around the magnet is not longer gold-plated

That gold-plated section you don't see, the part that sits inside your phone's charging port is the part that actually matters for conductivity, corrosion resistance, and long-term performance.

That hasn't changed. 

So why remove the gold on the outside?

By switching to the natural colour of the magnet on the outer plate, we were able to :

• Reduce accidental disconnects during use
• Create a more consistent "snap" when the cable connects
• Improve long-term durability of the magnetic surface.

• It disconnects less
• It feels more secure in everyday use.

Could We Have Communicated It Better? Probably.

We had shared updates about this change before.

But the message perhaps didn't reach everyone and that's on us.

Product changes, even good ones, can feel confusing or disappointing when they're unexpected. And when someone takes the time to tell us how they feel, the right response isn't defensiveness, it is clarity.

That's why we responded immediately, explained the reason for the change and took the feedback seriously.
