Why two heads, and why an elbow

Unlike previous magnetic cables that only charged one device, we created the first one that charges two simultaneously. With a straight head and a right-angled head, it’s designed for those tricky spots where a regular cable just won’t fit.

Can it really charge two devices at the same time?

Yes, that's exactly what the dual heads are for. The cable is USB2.0 and delivers up to 240W total, and USB Power Delivery negotiates automatically with each device. The laptop gets priority, the phone or earbuds take the rest. Neither gets starved, neither gets overcharged.

Does the Lite support data transfer and CarPlay?

Yes. The MAX Lite supports 480 Mbps data transfer, fast enough to sync photos, transfer files, and back up your phone, plus wired CarPlay and Android Auto. What it doesn't support is 20 Gbps high-speed data or 4K video passthrough, which need the rigid USB 3.2 shielding the Lite deliberately removes for flexibility and dual heads (get the Volta Mag for this - with up to 120Gbps and 16K Display)

What does the USB-A adapter do, and when would I use it?

The semi-detachable USB-A adapter folds alongside the USB-C input end. When you meet a legacy USB-A port, an airport outlet, an older car charger, a hotel power strip, flip it out and plug in. The rest of the cable works exactly the same. No separate adapter, no second cable.

Will it work with my existing Volta tips or, Mag Adapter or R-Mag?

Yes. The MAX Lite uses the exact same magnetic tip system as the Volta MAX 240W cable and the Volta Mag Adapter ( & R-Mag). USB-C, Lightning and Micro USB tips are all compatible. If you already have tips in your devices, every Lite variant snaps straight in. Nothing extra to buy.

What is SnagFree, and how does it work?

When the cable gets snagged, by a pet, a trip, a child, the magnetic connection releases cleanly before your device can be pulled. The device stays safe and you reconnect in under a second. The same principle as MagSafe on MacBooks, extended to every device you own.

Is this actually shipping, or still a concept?

This is not a concept. We have shown and demonstrated the product in several videos. Launching on Kickstarter in July 2026. Volta has delivered to 350,000+ customers across four campaigns since 2017, including the Volta MAX cable (2,805 backers, £218,623 raised, delivered October 2024) and the Volta Thunderbolt 5 Adapter (1,815 backers, $145,128, delivered December 2025).
